Mathematics is the alphabet with which God wrote the universe - Galileo Galillei
Cantamaths is an annual event in which teams of pupils from different schools around Christchurch (that's in New Zealand for you overseas surfers) compete in a fast paced maths contest. Teams of four sit at tables with an allocated runner and try to quickly solve problems to collect points.

But that's just the contest.

The other side of Cantamaths is a much slower paced affair, with mathematical posters, displays and models designed by students from schools are displayed, with the winning ones being sent off to the national maths conference. This entire site is an online version of one those designed by Nathan Adams of Burnside High School for the 1999 Cantamaths.
